Secondly ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Secondly application, website (secondly.com), and related services including the Secondly Pod hardware device. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up, we collect your phone number for authentication via SMS. If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address.

Conversation Data

Secondly processes the text messages you exchange with it, including content you send via iMessage and voice note transcriptions. This data is used for Secondly to remember context, follow up on tasks, and provide proactive assistance.

Third-Party AI Processing

Your conversation data is processed by third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and others) in order to generate responses. These providers may process and temporarily store your data according to their own data handling policies. We select providers with strong data protection practices, but we encourage you to review their privacy policies as well.

Device Data

If you use a Secondly Pod, the device may capture audio and visual data from its environment. This data is processed to provide contextual awareness (e.g., knowing when you're home or recognizing relevant activity). Audio and visual data is processed to provide the service and may be sent to third-party AI providers for processing.

Usage Data

We collect standard usage analytics including page views, feature usage, device type, and approximate location (country/region level). We use Google Analytics for website analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Secondly service
• To remember your context, preferences, and ongoing threads
• To send proactive messages, reminders, and follow-ups you have set up
• To authenticate your identity
• To send service-related communications and, with your consent, marketing emails
• To process your data through third-party AI models hosted on cloud infrastructure

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data with:

• Third-party AI providers — to process your conversations and generate responses. These providers may retain data according to their own policies.
• Infrastructure providers — to host and operate the service
• Analytics providers — for aggregated, anonymized usage data
• As required by law or to protect our legal rights

4. Cloud Infrastructure and Security

Your data is processed on cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Email Marketing

If you join our waitlist or opt in to marketing, we may send you product updates, launch announcements, and related communications. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or contacting us directly.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will delete your data from our systems within 30 days. Note that data previously sent to third-party AI providers may be retained according to their own retention policies.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of marketing communications
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format

8. Children's Privacy

Secondly is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
